The vibes are just a plus; the food is so memorable that if you're like my family, you'll be talking about it all night after, and craving it again the very next day. There wasn't a single dish that went unfinished, from the chickpea tofu salad that surprised us all with its perfectly balanced and bright, rich sauce and tart pickled mustard, to the pork noodles that delighted us with its smokiness and generous pork, the noodles bouncy and flawless. We loved the spice on the dal fritters in the coconut broth, and practically licked the bowl clean! Even the cocktails were complex and delicious. If you're looking for a sure thing, look no further! Rangoon Bistro, we'll be back, and it won't be long! ”
“ We ordered the carrot salad, two entrees, and their “spicy soda.” Even though it is semi-self-service, the employees were very kind and they were on top of retrieving used dishes from the table. The spicy soda was quite unique and definitely lived up to its name. If I were to change anything, I would have ordered a different salad (the salad was really yummy), but the flavor palate was very similar to the chickpea tofu so I would have liked to get the ginger one instead. ”

“ This is my favorite restaurant in Portland. Every dish I've had has been truly exceptional: the textural contrasts and complex flavors make each dish exciting and satisfying. The staff are nice and I like the SE 50th Ave location because you can sit at the counter looking at the open kitchen. The only drawback is that at popular times, the line to order runs through the tables, but just avoid sitting in that area. ”
“ Rangoon Bistro serves up uniquely different Burmese inspired food with a cozy vibed atmosphere . The open kitchen with bar-style seating at the counter was the perfect choice for our initial foray to the Rangoon Bistro. Seated at the counter , we met Mack , preparing chickpea flour. Interacting with Mack , as our food guide, was so helpful in deciding which dishes to order. Everything on the menu sounded great, but we eventually settled on 4 dishes to sample..... the Tofu Thoke , the Lahpet Thoke salad , the Si Chet Khao and the Kyet Thar Kyaw. First up was the Lahpet Thoke salad containing tea leaves. Wow, What an interesting combo of flavors. While the strong use of fish sauce made it a wee bit too salty for my taste , the freshness of the greens combined with the crunch of peanuts, fried dal and fried Fava beans gave this salad a tantalizing contrast of flavors and textures. The marinated fried chicken was delicious. The coconut rice was the perfect accompaniment to this tasty dish. The pork noodles were up next. The roast pork was supremely tender. The tamari fried garlic just added another layer to the perfectly cooked wheat noodles. Lastly, our favorite , the huge Khao Pyan Sane dumpling ....... a monster pork and cabbage dumpling bathed in a tasty soy / vinegar sauce was off the charts ! Wow. Service was excellent, and meeting Alex , the owner topped off a different and delicious dining experience. Handicap doable and recommended Prices were very reasonable. ( see attached menu pic ). Final take, highly recommended. We're looking forward to a return visit to try more dishes at Rangoon Bistro. ”
“ Simply phenomenal food. I have never had these flavor combinations before and was delighted by every bite. The ginger salad, mushroom noodles, and pork curry were all exceptional. My friends and I had an enjoyable afternoon eating and chatting in the bright space. Staff were very friendly. We will be back! ”
